Howard Lister BSc, C Sci, C Geol, FGS, Geotechnical Advisor.

Director of GIS, Howard has over 30 years experience as a Specialist Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineer.

Throughout his career he has been involved in over 3,000 ground investigation contracts ranging from small to multi-borehole packages for residential and industrial use, with particular regard to mined, contaminated and landfill sites in urban environments.

The more prestigious projects he has been involved with include Ironbridge-By-Pass, Leicester City Football Club, Birmingham University, Dudley Southern-By-Pass, Toyota-Burmaston, East Midlands Airport and Staffordshire University.

As a member of the Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS) Howard ensures GIS follows the recommended "Code of Conduct" and "Guidelines for Good Practice in Site Investigation".

Tom Mclaren BSc, FGS Engineering Geologist

Tom joined GIS in 2002 after graduating from the University of Portsmouth with an Honours Degree in Geology.

He is well experienced in the site supervision of borehole and trial pit investigations. In 2003 he carried out the investigation and reporting for over twenty bridge replacement schemes on the Nuneaton to Felixstowe railway line - contract value £50K.

He has completed within the last few years comprehensive geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigations for a new £77 million college campus in West Bromwich, a new school in Cannock, new teaching facilities at Staffordshire University and a proposed business park in Lincoln.



Duncan Grey BSc, MSc, AIEMA Contaminated Land Specialist

Duncan joined GIS in 2005 as a Contaminated Land Specialist, after having previously worked for the Environment Agency as a Pollution Prevention and Control Officer.

He has a first degree in Applied Chemistry and Masters Degrees in Bioactive Molecules and Environmental Diagnostics.

Duncan is qualified in analytical, monitoring and sampling techniques for the characterisation of soil, groundwater and soil gas contamination. He is well practised in the hazard assessment of Waste Soil and Waste Acceptance Criteria testing for appropriate disposal to landfill.

Duncan was an attending delegate at the Land Quality Management/CIEH Generic Assessment Criteria Workshop in January 2009 and is experienced in the generation of generic and site specific assessment criteria using the CLEA v 1.06 software methodology.

Over the last year Duncan has had a major involvement with the investigation and remediation of a former industrial facility in the Welsh Borders contaminated with hydrocarbons and solvents.
